Tying the Knot, Part 2

Yesterday was the big day in D.C.–same gender couples were legally married!

The Human Rights Campaign arranged for three couples to be married to mark the historic day, and you can watch video of all three at http://marriage.mccchurch.org/?p=65

I was especially thrilled to watch the ceremony for Rev. Darlene Garner, MCC Region 3 Elder, and Rev. Candy Holmes, MCC Ecumenical officer, and dear friends (their ceremony begins at about 32 minutes into the 40-minute video). That it was officiated by Rev. Dwayne Johnson, former MCC Richmond pastor now leading MCC District of Columbia, made it even more special.

What can one say in the face of the power of love? Hallelujah!

And what can one say in Virginia, where the historic Potomac separates us from justice? Freedom is coming! Freedom is coming!
