Hubba Hubba! for Hubby Hubby

I gave up ice cream long ago. But I am tempted to drive to Vermont to eat just one spoonful of Ben & Jerry’s newest brand: Hubby Hubby.

B&J fans will recognize it as renamed Chubby Hubby, but that wouldn’t stop me from going to Vermont for just one bite, to celebrate Vermont full marriage equality.Hubby Hubby ice cream

That’s why the famous chain rebranded the flavor. “At the core of Ben & Jerry’s values, we believe that social justice can and should be something that every human being is entitled to,” said Walt Freese, Ben & Jerry’s CEO.

Alas, the relabeled product is available for only 30 days and only in Vermont. “”Now more than ever, Vermont is for lovers … and for lovers of marriage equality,” proclaims product literature.

Wait a minute. Virginia claims to be for lovers. Of course, certain restrictions apply here.

But, when–and I do mean “when”–Virginia completely lives up to its tourist slogan by approving marriage equality, will we get some special ice cream, too?
